Family Horse Farm Lakeside Wedding

Some weddings just leave a deep, lasting impact and this family horse farm lakeside wedding is one, even years later. Weddings bring a range of emotions from pure bliss to sadness for loved ones who aren’t able to be there. This wedding was unique in a way I had never experience before. Mallory’s mom had been diagnosed with Alzheimers very young. I won’t recount her story for you; Mallory has done an incredible job of doing that here. But as you can imagine, that diagnosis brought a whole new range of emotions to the wedding day.

Matt & Mallory chose to have their wedding at Mallory’s childhood home: A beautiful stone home overlooking a pond lined with willow trees and horse barns and fields all round in beautiful Lexington, KY. Mallory’s mom was able to be present with her, and had a great day with lots of laughs and smiles, especially on her golf cart ride down the aisle. Undeniably, that moment will personally forever hold a special place close to my heart. I know the photos we captured this day are a treasure to Matt & Mallory’s family. I am honored they chose me to photograph their wedding day with so much at stake.

Sadly, Patti passed less than a year later. In her honor, Mallory and her family have created Patti’s Peace, a fundraiser to support the Sanders Brown Center on Aging at UK. I’ve read a lot of the articles and stories Mallory shares. The work they are doing there is incredible. My grandmother passed from a decade long battle with dementia in 2021. And as someone with that kind of family history, I too have an extra vested stake in finding a cure for this cruel disease. If you would like to donate to Patti’s Peace, you can do that here.

Please enjoy this brief look at their family horse farm lakeside wedding day: A day full of joy and a celebration of Matt & Mallory becoming a family, but as toasts said at their reception, it was also a tribute to the incredible woman that raised Mallory and her brother Cody. A wedding that will live deep in my memories forever. I send all my love to you, Mallory!
