I’ve taken a few years off to have babies (yes, multiple babies if you didn’t know!), but that’s a whole other blog post. This post is all about Tanner & Celeste and their incredible colorful Churchill Downs wedding day. I see so much of myself and my husband Matt in these two. Meeting in college and becoming best friends. Dating and getting married shortly after graduation. Their love for their families and for Christ. I just loved it all!
Tanner & Celeste chose to have their wedding in a church nearby Churchill Downs. It had recently been remodeled and looked so good! T & C said Southeast Christian Church had a big impact on each of their relationships with the Lord which makes it so special. And then of course, photographing a wedding reception at Churchill Downs was so cool! I had only been to CD once before as a total tourist back in 2017, but this time I felt like such a local actually being a vendor for the wedding. Churchill Downs has to be one of the most classy, timeless places to get married. This day was even raceday, so we got to see several real races! It was awesome and made for some unique portraits!
T & C, but really Celeste if we’re being honest 😉 , picked the coolest color palate for the day: Yellows, Pinks, Oranges. It was just fun! Each bridesmaid looked incredible in their dress Celeste helped them each pick out. And the gentlemen looked dashing in their suits as well.
For me, I love wedding receptions because I get a deeper glimpse into each couple, from the way it’s styled, ordered, to the food, toasts, cake cutting. At this particular reception, I was given the most beautiful peek into two sweet, loving families. The pandemic has been hard on us all. T & C being seniors in college were some of the people who sacrificed a lot. They spent the last year hopping back and forth from their parent’s homes seeing each other and finishing virtual school. Despite that sacrifice, they were strong through whole situation. The best man said it best in his speech that each wedding takes on its own characteristics. Sometimes its the venue or the food or the band or a number of things, but this wedding was uniquely Tanner & Celeste and their love for their family and friends. I agree with him. I’ve been to my share of weddings and this one was definitely a lovely tribute to their families. Tanner & Celeste even gave out superlatives to their parents in the most hilarious roast. SO GOOD.
Alright, in typical Karyn fashion, I could keep gushing on and on about these two, but I’ll stop here and let you get to the good part: the photos! Congratulations Tanner & Celeste! I loved spending time with you and getting to know you. I hope our paths cross again soon!
