When I think about the length of nine years, it kind of blows my mind. Nine years ago I would have been 17 and to think about how much has changed in those 9 years is crazy. How different I am, my friends are, my family is, and the world around me. So different.
But for Jay & Stephanie one thing has stayed constant for 9 years and that has been their love for each other. As high school sweethearts, their relationship was tried, tested, stretched, and pulled. But through it all, their love for one another just continued to grow. And by the time they tied the knot, it was a relief and a dream come true.
When planning for this day, Stephanie wanted to keep everything clean, neutral, and bright. Gold and blush accents decorated the white walls and chairs of the Planter’s Club. Simple, but elegant gold vases with a floral mixture of peonies, roses, and eucalyptus completed the tables. And the silverware was wrapped in a white napkin tied with a photo from Jay & Stephanie’s 9 year relationship. It was so fitting for them!
Stephanie got ready at the Planter’s Club surrounded by her maids and mom. They relaxed, drank mimosas, and listened to some tunes as they got ready for the big day. Jay steered clear of the bridal suite while still enjoying his time with his men. The two met on the Planter’s Club driveway where Jay exclaimed “Oh my god, you look amazing” at first sight of Stephanie. That moment was definitely one of my favorites of the day!
Their ceremony overlooked the Nansemond River, again, decorated with beautiful florals and a clean color palate. Guests enjoyed hearing some sweet vows, a musical performance on the flute, and a few impromptu words from the bride which made everyone laugh. 🙂
I don’t know if I’ve ever been to a wedding as relaxed and fun as this one. Jay & Stephanie were definitely surrounded by “their people” who were ready to celebrate their marriage! The dance floor was packed all night. The toasts had people rolling on the floor (I’m looking at you, best man), and the bar kept everyone’s thirst quenched all night.
I could just keep gushing and gushing about this wedding and the incredible couple, but I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.
Jay & Stephanie, thank you for letting me capture your beautiful wedding day! It was such an honor and is quickly becoming one of my favorite weddings ever. You guys are so sweet and generous and I hope our paths cross often. <3
