“I can’t believe this is all happening. Everything is exactly how I imagined it would be.” Those were Kelley’s exact words as she arrived at Elkington. That is exactly how every bride should feel! According to Kelley’s bridesmaids, they said that she had been planning for this day since high school. But that the day was even better than those plans because she was marrying her perfect match.
The Eastern Shore is known for it’s historic plantation homes and gardens, so Spencer and Kelley couldn’t think of a better spot for their elegant, southern affair. Elkington is one of those historic homes serving as an example of late 18th centuries architecture. The outside is beautiful, but the antique wallpaper and vintage furniture make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time once you walk through the door. I loved photographing Kelley’s bridal details in this space. So classic, southern, and elegant!
The ceremony site was purposefully chosen because it overlooks a creek that not only flows into the Chesapeake Bay, but also overlooks their first home. How special is that?! The reception was held in the gardens behind the house which were lined with boxwood bushes and crape myrtles. It was such a perfect garden setting with touches of southern and nautical charm. Spencer, Kelley, and their friends worked hard DIYing many elements of their day all the way from making the farm tables at the reception to her mom making the cake to Spencer’s mom sewing lace onto her veil to Kelley’s elementary school art teacher’s custom art on the invitations and so much more. It was a beautiful collaboration of Kelley’s vision and it was perfect.
I had a hard time narrowing down the highlights of the day. It was just so gorgeous!
