Classic Blush Spring Wedding

Background

A classic, blush spring wedding? Yes, please! To add to the excitement, this wedding was for a dear friend. When Matt and I first moved to Louisville, Mark was one of the first people we met. He was interested in joining the same church, was a seminarian, and had a background in engineering. Needless to say, Matt and Mark became fast friends. And through a series of events, Mark, Matt, and myself ended up leading the student ministry team at our church. Over the 6 years we’ve known Mark, we’ve grown to love him dearly.

After conversations with him, we learned of his desire to eventually be married. We prayed for the Lord to bring the right woman into his life. We watched a few girlfriends come and go over the years, but none felt right. That is, until Mark met Christiana.

They have a super sweet, Christ-ordained “meet cute” of friends of friends giving out information and a spontaneous, last minute trip to Nashville. Matt and I heard about Christiana for a few months. We could see the shear delight and smile in Mark’s eyes when he spoke of her. Last fall, we had the opportunity to meet her and I fell in love. She was it! I knew it. Matt knew it. My friend and our pastor’s wife Shannon knew it. We all knew it and encouraged Mark as he sought our sage marriage advice. Soon after, there was a proposal, engagement, and wedding being planned!

Now we enter the classic spring blush wedding! They sweetly themed the wedding after DC in the spring with the famous cherry blossoms. The blush and muted greens were perfect for this time of year, and honestly any time of year in my opinion. I loved it! Christiana looked radiant in her wedding dress. I’ve also never seen a bride walk down the aisle with such grace and confidence. She smiled with such genuineness at her guests and so, so sweetly squeezed her Dad’s arm. It was one of my favorite moments.

The Reception

I normally don’t write about receptions, but I couldn’t let this blog post pass without mentioning the absolute delight I get in watching Mark dance. Back in 2018, Mark, Matt, and myself took our students to summer camp. Mark blew our students away by throwing some moves out on the dance floor. I mean, there was so much sweat involved… the students laughed and had an absolute blast. It’s one of my favorite Mark memories. So thinking of Mark at his own wedding reception, you knew it was going to be good! Please don’t miss those photos at the end of the post. SO, SO GOOD.

Thank you Mark and Christiana for letting me be a part of your wedding day. What an honor! We miss Mark so much here in Louisville, but we love you two together! Matt and I have been so blessed in our marriage and we are praying the same for you both. <3

Now, enjoy some of my favorites from the day of this classic, blush spring DC wedding.
