Douglass & Blair: Yorktown Beach Engagements

Photography is a unique business in that it is both a service and an art. And because of those two elements, it can be hard balancing customer service and artistic vision. That’s why after couples inquire about my services, I’m looking for someone who has looked through my portfolio and likes what they see and then trusts me to produce similar results for them. And that description fits Douglass and Blair.

From Blair’s first email, I knew I wanted to photograph their wedding in September! She told me “Generally, I’m relaxed and easy-going, and I’m looking for photos that reflect those qualities with elegance.” Yesssss. She is a woman after my heart! I strive to make my images look relaxed, authentic, and natural but a little more elegant than real life. I told Blair that she put into words exactly what I think when I’m photographing!

Meeting Douglass and Blair for this sunrise session in Yorktown was so fun. This is Blair’s “old stomping grounds.” She told me as a child, she watched them bring parts of the Coleman Bridge on barges and piece it together. How neat! She and Douglass have spent much of the last year dating in Yorktown. The Yorktown Ben & Jerrys is home tot their first date and a perfectly situated bench overlooking the river is the place where Douglass proposed. Yorktown was the perfect location for their engagements and will be for their fall wedding!

Douglass & Blair, thank you for spending your morning with me telling me about your spots in Yorktown. I had a blast with you both and am so excited for September!
