Wes and Emma: Downtown Smithfield and Windsor Castle Park Engagement Session

Sometimes it completely blows my mind at how divinely God works in our lives.

Wes was born and raised in Yorktown, VA, and works at Newport News Shipbuilding. Emma was born and raised in Washingtion State and is currently stationed and living in South Korea! So how in the world did these two meet, fall in love, and get engaged?

Because Emma is in the Air Force, she was placed in Newport News for a time. During that period, she and Wes both attended the same church. On January 20th 2013 at a football party, they met for the first time and have spent the last year navigating their relationship, engagement, and wedding.

Wes and Emma have been planning their entire wedding together while being 7000 miles apart. Wes being here in the States and Emma being in Korea. I admire how much patience, communication, and grace they have had with one another through this whole process. Wes and Emma are so well suited for each other and have a solid relationship founded on Christ. I am so honored to be a part of their wedding day!

Emma was able to return to the U.S. for a little bit around the Holidays. She and Wes spent lots of time traveling from Washington State to Virginia to visit both families and make wedding plans. Thankfully, they had enough time to squeeze in an engagement session a few days before Emma was to return home.

Since moving to Carrollton, I have really wanted to shoot a session in downtown Smithfield. It’s cute and quaint and such a picturesque historic small town. So when Wes and Emma chose to have their engagements taken in downtown Smithfield, I was over the moon excited! They ventured to Smithfield on one of their first dates! I think that’s absolutely adorable!

We had a nearly perfect overcast day, though the threat of rain kept us moving quickly. Thankfully, we were able to get in every single picture before the rain came.

Wes and Emma, I had so much fun with you guys and I can’t wait until your wedding next month!!

Enjoy lots of my favorites!

A new all-time favorite (it is now in the slideshow header)! I love Emma’s smile, and the way Wes looks at her. Precious!

Wes and Emma said that they spend a lot of time laughing at each other. That was music to my ears because then we grab shots like this one. LOVE it!

Love this one with the cute Smithfield shops in the background!

Wes plays guitar and they wanted to incorporate it into their session. I loved the idea and the photos that came from it. These are some of my favorite pictures from the session because of how relaxed and candid the moments are.

This is another all-time favorite! I mean seriously, how absolutely adorable are they together?

Wes and Emma, thank you so much for letting me capture these beautiful moments! I am honored to be a part of your wedding day! One month!!
