It feels like it’s been raining here in Virginia for weeks. Days pass by where the sun was no where to be found. The ground has been saturated with water and every where you step there’s a big patch of mud. I prayed the whole weekend that the sun would soon shine again!
And wouldn’t you know it, just in time for this special engagement session, the clouds parted and the sun came out! Yay! It was the perfect afternoon. Warm, but not too warm. Sunny, but not too sunny. Breezy, but not too breezy. It was just perfect!
I met up with Robert & Shannon at First Landing State Park. Shannon is a dear friend from college. We were both in the Marching Virginians and went to the same small group. We were even discipled together for a year and I grew so much in that time we spent together chatting about God, dreams, careers, and boys (of course!). Haha. And since that time I spent with Shannon, she’s always been a woman close to my heart. I think everyone has this, but there are a few certain people in my life who I feel a deep love for no matter how frequently we get to see each other, and for me Shannon is one of those people. I just love her and her sweet spirit! So when she emailed me about doing engagements for her and her fiance, I was over the moon excited!
It makes my heart so happy to see an old friend in love. And that is so evident with Robert & Shannon. They are the cutest together! And normally it takes a little bit more effort on the guys end to truly enjoy the photography experience, but you could just see Robert enjoying spending that time with Shannon. I loved it and love that Shannon has found someone that makes her so happy!
And while I could keep typing on and on about how much I love these two, I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. I had never been to First Landing before and it was so perfect! The spanish moss in Virginia was perfect and felt like we had stepped into a different world. And the sunset with the pastel clouds made for beautiful romantic beach portraits! Oh, so much swooning.
Robert & Shannon, thank you so much for letting me capture you guys in this unique, transitional period of your life. I wish you both the best as you move and start your lives together! 🙂
