I absolutely love coming to my new little home on the Internet! I look at it and I think “Wow, is this really MY business?” Ah! What do you think? I’d love to hear your feedback! 🙂
In early 2014, Matt and I decided that I should follow my dream and open a photography business. So, we started taking steps to make that happen by purchasing equipment, filing for an LLC, and creating a website.
Because I had been an avid blogger in college and tried a few different blogging platforms, I decided to use Blogger. Blogger allows you to super customize everything, as long as you know the html code. So I spent hours and hours Google searching and reading forums just to set up my blog so it didn’t just look like a template. I even opened Illustrator for the first time and attempted to create a logo. At the time, we were painting and decorating our living room gray and yellow, so I decided that would also fit my brand.
Well, everything got set up and slowly my business grew! As more and more people were visiting my blog and looking at my online presence, I knew that my make-shift blog and logo just weren’t going to do! So, I contacted my friend Danielle from college. I knew that she did graphic design work and I had been following her blog for the past few years.
We worked together for months figuring out what I wanted my online presence to look like. I stalked other creative’s websites, pinned a million things on Pinterest, and even did some soul searching along the way. We eventually concluded that I wanted something simple that would be easy for clients and potential clients to navigate. I wanted something inviting that would feel familiar and clean. I also wanted something lovely – something exquisitely beautiful – being my online presence.
Through this process I’ve also been transitioning my overall style as a photographer. I look at my work from just 6 months ago and I’m blown away at how much my shooting and editing style has changed. And I think my new online presence and visual brand fit that style much better than my old blog and logo.
Like I mentioned before, this whole process started last year and I have been dying to share it with you! It was SO hard making forms and other materials with my old things for a while because I knew what was coming was going to be SO much more beautiful! A HUGE thank you to Danielle for all her hard work and creativity! I love, love, love my new logo and overall branding feel.
Please continue to look around and let me know what you think! I’d love to hear feedback from you all! One of the things I’m really excited about is the new commenting system. With my old blog, I had so many people tell me that they wanted to comment, but that Blogger wouldn’t publish their comments. But now, all comments should work and I’m super excited for that! So please, blow up the comment section below: that would make me so happy!
Have a wonderful weekend, friends!
