One of the things I love most about photography is reconnecting with people from the past. I love getting to spend time with old friends and see what is going on in their lives now. And that was definitely the case with Anna!
Anna and I went to middle and high school together! We were both in band and worked BINGO together as a fundraiser. We could tell lots of stories of those memories! Haha.
Anna messaged me asking if I’d be in Blacksburg anytime this fall because she wanted portraits of her and her boyfriend, Richard. Thankfully, I was going to Blacksburg, so we scheduled their shoot for a Saturday morning. We weren’t expecting it to be so cold, but they handled it like pros!
As we were catching up, they informed me that Richard had bought Anna a promise ring. After he had given her the ring, they decided that it really represented more than a promise because they knew they wanted to get married. They decided that it would be a promise ring until Richard officially proposed! Then, it would be an engagement ring! I was so excited for them, but I had no idea that Richard’s official proposal would happen that day!
We started near the Agriculture Quad. Anna is studying horticulture and a lot of her classes are in that area. Plus, I may be a little biased seeing that is where Matt proposed last year!
Be prepared for lots of favorites!
These images under the archway are some of my absolute favorites, ever!
Oh, and this one is another all-time favorite.
There is nothing like Blacksburg in the fall. Love!
I asked Richard and Anna if they would cross the top of the duck pond on these little stepping stones so I could get a photo with the water cascading over the steps. They were so awesome and cute helping each other across.
It was totally worth it because this is what we got. How pretty!
Then we found a spot underneath a tree. Richard and Anna had brought a few props that they wanted to incorporate into the session. Anna thought it would be a cute idea just to have Richard write her a sweet letter and for me to capture her reaction. Little did she know, Richard had something else planned!
Her smile kept getting bigger and bigger until she said, “It’s official!” and then turned to hug her FIANCE! Such a precious moment to witness and capture!
Love this! Another favorite!
They also brought this beautiful rose with them. It was one of the first gifts Richard gave to Anna. So sweet!
We finished up our session by… playing in the leaves! Another favorite!
Thank you both SO much for letting me capture such precious memories and to be a part of the proposal! Congratulations!
